Exploring Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque

Today, we are going to visit Abu Dhabi History Museum and the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

It was only afternoon here in Abu Dhabi and the heat here has become unsahikable. I wanted to visit Sheikh Zayed Mosque only in the evening.

So, I decided to spend time in nearby places.

I saw that Abu Dhabi History Museum and Aquarium and the Khalifa Park was nearby. So, I went there hoping to get some relief from the heat while I wait for the evening.

Abu Dhabi History Museum and Aquarium are located in the same building. It is an indoor museum and you have to sit in a cable car and it will take you around different sets showing the timeline and history and history of UAE. There is also a huge aquarium with lots of varieties of fish.

Honestly, both of them were pretty underwhelming experiences. They were not in the kind of standard that you expect in UAE. It could be also possible that I was spoiled by the luxurious experiences at the palaces that I visited earlier that day.

After that underwhelming experience, I thought I should go to the Khalifa park, which was nearby to relax a bit in the shade.

Unfortunately, it was not the kind of park that I was expecting It was too hot there and you can barely sit and there are no shades there.

Anyhow, there was a building. It was a library. I spent some time sitting inside the library. It was pretty cool there and I read a book, and there was free wi-fi, there was free coffee.

Finally, it was evening and I started heading to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. It is one of the top most location to visit when in Abu Dhabi.

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the largest in UAE. The construction of this mosque was completed in 2007.

It is open to both visitors and believers. There are no entry fees but you have to book an appointment for your visit. You also get to have a peak at the interior view of the mosque.

The carpet in the mosque is considered to be the world’s largest and it took over two years for 1300 carpet knotters to build it.

The chandelier in the mosque is the third largest in the world and it has a diameter of 10 meters and height of 15 meters. The best time to visit Sheikh Zayed Mosque is in the evening.

I highly recommend it and it is one of the best places to visit while in Abu Dhabi.

It was already night by the time I left Sheikh Zayed Mosque. I headed straight to the Abu Dhabi International Airport to spend the remaining time there until my next flight to my next destination, which would become my 16th country.
